OpenRain uses CS4/CS3 for pretty much all our graphics work now. It's really tempting to use Pixelmator, Vector Designer, OmniGraffle etc., but they just don't have the feature sets we need for web-related work. (Slicing, optimization, device previews etc.) The compatibility between CS4 and CS3 seems to be pretty good, as well, with the exception of InDesign. Photoshop and Illustration don't seem to have major issues, though, so overall I've been happy with both CS4 and CS3.

Check out the training videos when you have an hour to burn: they're pretty good and worth watching to built your skillset.

You probably want either a ReadyNAS or a Drobo. If you're using it across a network I'd go with the ReadyNAS, though I think it's still more expensive. Last I checked, the network add-on for the Drobo was limited by a USB bus or something. (Don't recall exactly, and that was over a year ago.)

I use a ReadyNAS NV+ at home with 4 drives, and it has worked great so far. The Drobo is much user friendly, but the ReadyNAS is more feature complete. I know people that have one or the other, and they both seem like reasonable cost-effective choices for a 2TB+ setup.

I'm hoping to have something new together by end of January. Between research project, teaching, and job interviews this month has really rushed past. Next month is going to fly by preparing my proposal. So probably end of January.

Thanks for the kind words. We're reaching out to developers such as you to bust out some cool apps, so the upcoming months should certainly be exciting as the ideas start to flow.

Check out Behavior Driven Development. It has the same core values as TDD but is more business oriented.

There's also a Ruby implementation out there which is rapidly gaining momentum.

Good point. However, with an application like Parallels you can run Windows to support Office. It would be nice if 99% of the market was not Office, or if we could have a supported standardized format for the exchange of documents. This is a mature application area and there is no excuse for non-standard documents other than it is not in the best interest of the number one application provider for this area.
