In my Why all development will move to the Mac entry I identified several reasons I think the Mac will become the dominant platform of the future. Now more evidence as Wilkes University is moving to all Apple hardware. Read the article in Computerworld. They apparently will dual boot Windows, but the head of the IT department acknowledges that part of the decision was based on the perceived superiority of OS X.

I wonder what mail client and document suite they’ll be using. If it’s Entourage and Office I’d be concerned about the future of those products on OS X.

Good point. However, with an application like Parallels you can run Windows to support Office. It would be nice if 99% of the market was not Office, or if we could have a supported standardized format for the exchange of documents. This is a mature application area and there is no excuse for non-standard documents other than it is not in the best interest of the number one application provider for this area.
